Identity

Every player in MFL has a unique identity generated the moment they're minted. Think of it as their permanent DNA -- the foundation everything else builds on.

MFL player personal information

Personal details are allocated randomly

Appearance

Each player gets an AI-generated portrait. These are purely cosmetic and have zero impact on gameplay. They're just there to give your squad some personality and make your squad feel alive.

Name, Nationality & Physical Traits

When a player is created, the game randomly assigns them:

TraitDetails
NamePulled from real-world naming data
NationalityTied to real countries
AgePlayers in drops range from 16 to 28, with the majority being 23-24 or younger. Determines where they are in their career arc.
HeightAverage is 181cm, max is 206cm. Minor gameplay impact on aerial duels and goalkeeper reaching ability.

Height matters (a little). Taller players have slight advantages in aerial duels and goalkeepers benefit from extra reach. Nationality is purely cosmetic and affects nothing mechanically.

Position & Preferred Foot

Every player is assigned:

  • One primary position -- this is where they perform best, with no penalties applied
  • Up to two secondary positions -- they can play here with a small stat reduction
  • Preferred foot -- left, right, or both

Primary position has a direct impact on gameplay. It determines how a player's overall rating is calculated and where they slot into your formation without penalties.

Preferred foot matters. Players tend to use their preferred foot more during matches, which can influence passing, shooting, and dribbling in certain situations. Keep it in mind when positioning players on the pitch -- a left-footed winger on the right side will cut inside more naturally, for example.

What Actually Matters

Most identity traits are cosmetic or informational. The ones that carry gameplay weight right now:

TraitWhy It Matters
Primary positionAffects OVR calculation and positional penalties
HeightMinor impact on aerial duels and goalkeeper reaching
Secondary positionsDetermines where else a player can slot in without heavy penalties
Preferred footPlayers use their preferred foot more during matches

Nationality and appearance are purely cosmetic.
