Suspensions & Fair Play

Cards matter in MFL. They carry real consequences that follow your players across competitions. And if you're thinking about bending the rules, the fair play system has teeth.

How Suspensions Work

RuleWhat Happens
Red cardImmediate one-match suspension. That player misses the next scheduled match, no exceptions.
Double yellow = redIf a player gets a straight red card after already receiving a yellow in the same match, the yellow does NOT count toward their cumulative tally. It's treated as a red card only.
5 yellow cardsOne-match suspension, same as a red. Player sits out the next game.
Cross-competitionYellow card tallies are cumulative across both the IMFF Cup and Leagues (including promotion playoffs). A player earning 5 yellows in one competition can serve their suspension in the other.
18-hour noticeSuspensions apply to the next match with at least 18 hours of notice. If the next match is less than 18 hours away, the suspension carries to the following match instead.
Season resetAll card tallies and suspensions reset at the end of each season. Red cards in the final match do not carry over.
Transfer (yellows)Yellow card tallies do NOT reset on mid-season transfer. If a player has 4 yellows and you buy them, that tally follows them to your club.
Transfer (bans)Active suspensions ARE cancelled when a player transfers to another club. New club, clean slate on bans (but not on yellow card count). The exception: if the player joins the opposing team for the match they were originally suspended for, the suspension still applies.

Suspended players recover energy just as if they rested, so a forced day off isn't all bad.

Plan around suspensions. If a key player is sitting on 4 yellows heading into a big match, you might want to rest them in a less important fixture to avoid the risk.
