Competitions, Leagues and Matches
MFL has a full competitive pyramid with leagues, cups, and special events. Every match is PvP. No AI opponents, no filler games. You set your tactics, pick your squad, and the match engine simulates everything automatically based on your decisions and your players' attributes.
You can watch matches live, replay them later with anti-spoil mode (scores stay hidden until you choose to reveal them), or just check the results after the fact.
There is zero competitive advantage to watching live. The outcome is already determined by your tactical setup and your players' attributes. If you miss kick-off, don't sweat it.
Watching and Reviewing Matches
The match viewer includes tools for reading both live matches and replays:
- Heat maps: the recalibrated colour scale highlights areas with unusually high activity.
- Shot detail: hover a shot to inspect its height, trajectory and where it was blocked or saved.
- Pass map: see a player's passes, their destinations and outcomes, including chances created and assists.
- Ball touches: inspect carries, successful and unsuccessful dribbles, shots, clearances and fouls drawn.
- Match energy: the rating view shows each player's energy ring. See Energy and Rotation.

Pass map: completed and missed passes, chances created and assists.

Ball touches: follow a player’s runs with the ball, dribbles and shots.
Stadium ambience, chants and match sounds accompany the action. Sound controls let you switch effects off individually. Commentary follows the app's selected language and describes the action with more context.
How the Match Plays
The updated engine encourages ball carriers to use available passing options before dribbling into trouble. Off-ball movement follows your width instructions more closely, with more combinations and one-twos. Defenders anticipate attacking runs, and teammates offer short options for free kicks deep in your own half.
Players take time to plant and jump for high balls. The ball spins as it rolls, and movement no longer visually jumps across the pitch. A clearance that sets up a goal counts as an assist, including a goalkeeper's clearance.
Prepare substitutions and red-card plans before kickoff. Watching live does not let you override them.
