Training

Training lets you shape your players between matches. Split your squad into groups, choose coaches and focus development on the attributes your team needs. Set the intensity to balance growth with recovery.

Players work through a training drill with their coach.

Set Up Your Training Ground

Open Training on your club. The Training tab holds your groups, My Coaches lists your hired coaches, and Recruit is where you hire them.

Activating custom training gives you two outfield groups and one goalkeeping group, with free Basic coaches already assigned. These groups are permanent and work in every division. Leaving custom training off keeps ordinary balanced training at normal intensity.

  1. Move players between groups by dragging them, or select several and move them together. Goalkeepers and outfield players train separately.
  2. Assign one coach to each group containing players. A coach can run only one of your groups at a time.
  3. Choose each group's focus and intensity. These settings apply to everyone in that group.
  4. Save to apply all groups together.

Moving players, renaming groups, reassigning hired coaches and changing settings are free and unlimited. There are no training presets. The club owner or a staff member with Training permission can manage the setup. Staff also need Contracts permission to recruit coaches.

Training runs at 08:00 UTC, once per day during the season: 29 sessions per season. The saved setup at that moment determines the session.

Players without an assignment join a default group of their kind automatically. You cannot save players in a coachless group. If a coach's contract expires, that group falls back to balanced training at normal intensity until you replace him.

Coaches and Focus

Outfield training develops all six attributes. The player's position determines the usual distribution. A specialist coach lets you redirect some of that development toward his primary specialty, or toward both his primary and secondary specialties.

BasicBalanced training onlyNot availableFree
StandardPrimary attribute develops 25% fasterBoth specialties develop 15% faster2%
ElitePrimary attribute develops 50% fasterBoth specialties develop 35% faster5%

Specialties cover PAC, SHO, PAS, DRI, DEF and PHY, and cannot be changed. Hire a different coach if you want a different specialty.

Outfield focus redistributes development. Whatever the focused attributes gain, the others give up in equal amounts. It does not add total development. A paid coach on balanced training delivers the same development as a Basic coach, while still receiving his salary.

Choose groups around your players' positions and needs. Focusing a centre-back on Shooting speeds up an attribute that contributes nothing to his primary-position OVR, while slowing the attributes that do. A dual focus boosts each chosen attribute less than a single focus, and takes development from the other four.

Goalkeeping Coaches

Goalkeeping groups have no focus setting. Basic coaches provide ordinary goalkeeping development. Elite coaches add 5% goalkeeping development, without taking it from other attributes. There is no Standard goalkeeping coach.

Hiring and Paying Coaches

Filter the Recruit tab by tier and specialty. Every club has access to the same coaches: another club hiring one does not remove him from your options. Coaches are hired on season contracts; they are not owned or traded.

Choose either revenue share or an upfront $MFL salary when signing. The payment method stays fixed for that contract. You pay through one method, never both. Upfront salaries are based on the corresponding percentage of your division's eighth-place league reward.

All upfront salaries are in $MFL per season. Goalkeeping coaches have no Standard option.

Intensity and Energy

Intensity changes training speed and season energy. Coaches and focus do not affect energy.

IntensityTraining developmentEnergy after the session
Low20% slowerRecovers 20% of missing energy
NormalBaselineNo change
High20% fasterLoses 1 percentage point plus 10% of missing energy

For a player on 70% energy, low intensity restores 6 points, taking him to 76%. High intensity costs 4 points, leaving 66%. At 100%, high intensity costs just 1 point. Energy stays between 15% and 100%.

Players at 60% energy or below earn no training XP. Instead, they recover as if in a low intensity group, regardless of their assigned intensity. A player on 50% recovers to 60% but earns no XP from that session. Training development resumes on a later session once his starting energy is above 60%.

Low intensity can restore energy even on a matchday. Five low sessions take a player from 70% to about 90% if nothing else changes his energy. Each session restores a share of what is still missing, so the gains get smaller as he recovers.

Use high intensity when you have room in the schedule, and lighter sessions when your league and cup fixtures overlap. See Energy and Rotation for match fatigue, rest and substitutions.

Extra Groups and Upgrades

You can unlock up to six outfield groups and two goalkeeping groups in total. That means four extra outfield groups and one extra goalkeeping group beyond the free setup.

Purchased groups and upgrades belong permanently to the club. They stay when the club is sold, and cannot be sold separately, removed or downgraded.

Each purchased group has a division band. It works in that band and every division below it. Promotion above its band locks the group until you upgrade it; relegation back into its band unlocks it at no cost. A locked group cannot hold players or a coach. Your three free groups never lock.

Diamond / Platinum50,000100,000200,000200,000

Prices are in $MFL. The extra goalkeeping group costs the same as the first extra outfield group in your band.

An upgrade costs the difference between the prices in the old and new bands for that group. For example, upgrading the first purchased group from Spark/Flint to Stone/Ice costs 1,000 $MFL. Buying early and upgrading later costs the same in total as buying directly in the higher band. Upgrades are permanent.

A higher-band group does not train players faster. The band only determines which divisions it can operate in. The coach, focus and intensity determine the session.

Visitors can see your club's training groups and hired coaches. Player assignments and coach salaries remain private.

Training Limits

Training changes attributes, not positions. It cannot teach a new position or take a player past his potential. Once primary-position OVR reaches potential, attribute gains stop.

Custom training is for club players. Free agents have a separate option in the Development Center.
