IMFF Cup

The IMFF Cup is MFL's flagship cup competition. It runs alongside the league season, which means you're juggling two fronts at once. That's where squad management separates the contenders from the pretenders.

Format

Cup Progression

1

Group Stage

Teams are drawn into groups and play a double round-robin (home and away against every group opponent). Top teams from each group advance to the knockout rounds.

2

Round of 16

Single elimination begins. Win or go home.

3

Quarter-Finals

Eight teams remain. The pressure builds.

4

Semi-Finals

Four clubs left. Every decision matters.

5

The Final

One match for the trophy. Glory or heartbreak.

Cup Tiers

Teams are assigned to cup tiers based on their starting XI rating. This keeps things competitive. You won't see a Diamond powerhouse steamrolling Division 9 clubs in the early rounds. Tiers group clubs of similar strength so every match feels like it matters.

Squad Management Is Everything

Here's the catch: cup fixtures run alongside the league season. Your players share energy across both competitions.

On double matchdays (when you have a league game and a cup game in quick succession), energy management becomes critical. Do you field your best XI in the cup and risk tired legs for the league? Or rotate and hope your bench players can get the job done?

Smart managers plan ahead. Keep your squad deep enough to handle the grind. One-squad wonders might shine in the league but crumble when the cup piles on extra fixtures.
